Our Programs
One Table Together hosts family-style meal gatherings for diverse groups of high school and middle school students, creating safe environments for open discussions facilitated by trained professionals.
What we do
Each program is tailored to the unique needs of the school, developed in collaboration with administrators, teachers, and counselors. The goal is to break down barriers, dispel negative stereotypes, and foster a more harmonious school climate.
Program Structure
Students participate in family-style dinners featuring international cuisine, prepared by ProStart and culinary students under the supervision of food industry professionals. Discussions focus on understanding diverse experiences and challenging biases.
Follow-Up
Within weeks of each dinner, we host a school-wide assembly where students, facilitators, and guest speakers share insights and findings. Follow-up materials are provided to teachers to encourage in-class discussions.
Community Engagement
At the district level, we organize community-wide gatherings to introduce the program to government officials, religious and business leaders, and community organizations, with approximately 300 attendees expected.
Pilot Program
Our pilot event was held on April 9, 2025, at Highland High School, selected for its diverse student body. The event was a success, with positive feedback from students, facilitators, and administrators. Measurable results from pre- and post-event surveys demonstrated shifts in student perspectives on discrimination. Improvements from the pilot are being incorporated as we expand to other schools, including West High School in Fall 2025.
Student Unity Summit
In partnership with organizations like the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office, Community Partners Against Hate, and the United Jewish Federation of Utah, we supported the Student Unity Summit at the Utah State Capitol. Student leaders from East, Highland, Horizonte, and West High Schools participated, fostering respect and civic responsibility.
